Hooking up at a Bar

From a man’s perspective: I crack up every time I hear people say “your doomed if you find a mate at a bar.” A bar is a great place to meet. Some of my best relationships have been with women I’ve met at the local or un local watering holes. I bet half the married couples on earth met in a bar, so what’s the big deal? Are you supposed to meet him or her at church? I’m not knocking that either, but when opportunity is standing right next to you looking really hot.. you say “hi” and if it happens to be at a bar then so be it.
My rules for meeting someone at a bar:
Biggest rule of all…be very clear on what you seek. If you are looking for a fling, a one nightstand or the the “town drunk” go for it. No need to play games there are plenty of bar patrons looking for the same thing. Enough to go around ..if you know what I mean!
Now, if you’re looking for long term, or truly believe you’ve found your “sole mate” at a bar I say see below:
Stop drinking immediately, why make an ass of yourself.
Ask what he/she is having, a drink tells a lot about someone.
Get to know the friends. Who knows maybe you’ll find a better connection (just kidding, sort of)
Stay away if they are alone. Loners can be dangerous!
Never swap sad stories, clubs are fun so talk about fun activities…see above.
Don’t go home with him/her unless this is what you seek. Or the whole “soul mate” thing is happening
A bar can be as good a place as any to meet a man, woman or Cougar. How you handle yourself and how they handle themselves is what matters. In fact, you can probably learn more about someone at a bar than anywhere else, well, except group therapy. Anyway, people are who they are, whether at a bar or not won’t change that. An idiot is an idiot only at a bar, a drunken idiot.

Lately a lot of famous married men seem to be stepping out on their wives—and getting caught. The main reason they get caught is that the women they’re cheating with rat them out to the press. Who know why guys like Tiger Woods, Jesse James and David Boreanaz have steak at home, but insist on going out for dogburgers? But the motives of their consorts are pretty obvious—fame and money. The press insists on referring to these women as “mistresses.”
In days of old, a “mistress” was a woman who was “kept” by a married man, often a wealthy one. The “other woman” respected her man’s wife and family, and in return for being supported in style, she kept her mouth shut. The wife often knew about the mistress, but as long as she had the name, the house and the children, she also stayed quiet. Obviously, the new breed of “mistress” has little in common with her classier forerunners.
There are better terms to describe the strippers, nightclub hostesses, cocktail waitresses and porn stars who’ve mined their indiscretions for big bucks payoffs—like hooker, whore, skank and slut. I wish the media would stop honoring these calculating bimbos with the term “mistress” and call them what they really are.
