Great TV for Cougars

From a man’s perspective: My new favorite show of the season (by a mile) is The Good Wife on CBS starring Julianna Margulies and Chris Noth ( Sex in the City’s “Big”). This show has a great story line about a politician caught cheating on his wife with a prostitute. Sounds like real life events, sounds like the Eliot Spitzer story.The Good Wife is Alicia Florrick played by Julianna Margulies. She is a smart, sexy woman re-entering the work place after years of being a “stay at home trophy wife”. Everyone tries to look down on her because of the scandal caused by her now imprisoned politician husband Peter Florrick played by Chris Noth. She has a lot to prove.
As her character develops so does her strength, confidence and sex appeal. It’s easy to see the similarities between her and Cougar Women. She gains strength from the media backlash caused by her husband’s scandal. She aides her clients with a sense of understanding as she has seen the world through good and bad. She is a working mother trying to provide and protect her teenage kids. Her life is different. Her priorities are different. She’s beginning to realize she can do it, and she enjoys the afterglow of her hard work. She’s a survivor.
The best part is yet to unravel. Will she divorce her husband? I don’t know if she even knows how beautiful she is. Like many woman who I have encountered they seem naive to their own beauty.
Why is this beautiful woman still married to this pig? I see her struggling with the same question. Stay tuned……

Lately a lot of famous married men seem to be stepping out on their wives—and getting caught. The main reason they get caught is that the women they’re cheating with rat them out to the press. Who know why guys like Tiger Woods, Jesse James and David Boreanaz have steak at home, but insist on going out for dogburgers? But the motives of their consorts are pretty obvious—fame and money. The press insists on referring to these women as “mistresses.”
In days of old, a “mistress” was a woman who was “kept” by a married man, often a wealthy one. The “other woman” respected her man’s wife and family, and in return for being supported in style, she kept her mouth shut. The wife often knew about the mistress, but as long as she had the name, the house and the children, she also stayed quiet. Obviously, the new breed of “mistress” has little in common with her classier forerunners.
There are better terms to describe the strippers, nightclub hostesses, cocktail waitresses and porn stars who’ve mined their indiscretions for big bucks payoffs—like hooker, whore, skank and slut. I wish the media would stop honoring these calculating bimbos with the term “mistress” and call them what they really are.
