Do We Really Need A “Sex and the City” Sequel?

Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis

From a man’s perspective: You can bet your ASS we do! Why the hell not. Like the perfect dirty martini these women are strong, smooth and just sweet enough to want more.

As a man in 1998 I was reluctant to give these women the time of day. I figured what a stupid show. I was being a nice guy (in the attempts to get laid of course) and watched the show with girlfriend of the moment. It didn’t take me long to realize these chicks are hot, sexy and boisterous. I loved the open discussions on sex and thought “do women really talk like this when they are together?” Holly shit they’re worse than the guys at the bar talking trash about getting laid!

I don’t care for all the characters equally, but what I find fascinating is that you see a little of yourself in each person or surely know the type, or have a friend that is exactly like…..?

Everybody loves Sarah Jessica Parker’s “Carrie Bradshaw” the beautiful woman/writer/narrator stuck between commitment and the #1 forever love. Which leads me to Chris Noth’s “Big” The greatest name and character to ever hit a woman’s TV show….. you can simply refer to me as “Big” anytime… hell I might even kiss you for it.

The woman who is really the ultimate cougar, as far as I’m concerned, is Kim Cattrall’s “Samantha Jones” It takes a special woman with serious confidence to be able to pull off her sex starved, man eating attitude and humor. No one does it better than Kim. She is so blunt on sex I found myself blushing. As a man I can tell you she keeps my attention. I know women are eagerly awaiting her next sexcapade. Not everyone can be a Samantha Jones, but I’m sure the millions of women fans are living vicariously through her character. Just give me one episode to be Jason Lewis’ “Smith Jerrod” the lucky bastard. He has more sex scenes than actual acting parts as Samantha’s Cougar Candy boy toy. Lesson to the ladies: When your “Smith” comes around you better hold on tight. He’s a good guy who loves his cougar mama.

When I grow up and find a wife please let her be Kristin Davis’ “Charlotte York” It has always been my dream to save a beautiful princess from a broken heart. Of course Charlotte fits that mold through and through. The hopeless romantic that every man wishes he could save. If Charlotte can get married to Evan Handler’s “Harry Goldenblatt” there is hope any unattractive man can marry a beautiful rich woman.

We all know and have the love/hate relationship for the cynical women of the world. Cynthia Nixon as “Miranda Hobbes” is that obsessive dark complaining woman we would rather do without. How do we end up in her bed time and time again? Poor David Eigenberg as “Steve Brady” the off and on again boyfriend/husband. Not that I condone cheating, but really, can you blame the poor guy. After all her negative shit how could he not? Poor guy deserves at least 1 free pass.

Willie Garson’s “Stanford Blatch” Carrie’s gay BFF. I’ll be honest it took some time for me to warm up to the idea of gay friends on TV in 1998 but like all else in life times have changed.

From personal experience dating mature women they attract gay friends like bees attract honey. I laugh my ass off with the condescending relationship between Carrie and Stanford. First hand that is some great writing, the laughs pour in just like real life. Cougars and gays go hand in hand like like chocolate and PMS. I especially love the cat fighting and bitching. I still can’t figure out how a gay guy can be so honest when critiquing a woman and she loves him for it. I tried to tell the truth and ended up in the dog house!

Sex and the City the sequel is currently being filmed in New York City scheduled to be released May 2010. The plot is a huge secret! Do we really care what the plot is??? We will all find our seat to see it anyway. These incredible women have been our friends for over 10 years. They have changed the lives of millions of women and men from sex, fashion, hairstyles and Carrie’s Manolos. With each new adventure we learn something new, maybe we are better for it. I don’t know the answer, I just know I enjoy the lesson.

Overall Verdict: Like the millions of fans from all over the world I too am looking forward to the sequel. The only decision left to make is what hot woman will I be enjoying the movie with?

I’m not sure I’m ready for a sequel. I didn’t even like the first one, unfortunately. :-(

I must admit I agree with sweet and sexy. Although I did enjoy the last one, and loved the show! It ended on a great note….sometimes too much of a good thing….no longer become a good thing!
